Why buying a used phone needs extra care
A used phone can be a great deal, but the second-hand market has real risks. The same model can hide very different problems — a weak battery, a replaced screen, water damage, or a non-PTA device that stops working on local networks. Photos alone rarely tell the full story, and an attractive price can distract from these issues. Mehfoz is built to reduce that uncertainty by giving you structured listings, clear specifications, and tools to verify a device before you pay.
What to check before you buy
- ✓PTA status — confirm whether the phone is PTA approved or non-PTA (JV/patched devices are not allowed on Mehfoz), and verify the IMEI on the official PTA DIRBS portal.
- ✓Battery health — ask for the exact battery health percentage; a low figure means you may need a replacement soon.
- ✓Physical condition — inspect the screen for scratches or dead pixels, and check the frame for dents or signs of a drop.
- ✓Camera, speaker and mic — test photos, calls, and sound before paying.
- ✓Repairs and replaced parts — ask whether the screen, battery, or camera has ever been replaced.
- ✓Meet safely — prefer public places, and avoid sending advance payments to unknown sellers.
